"Old Charlotte" Real Estate
If your taste runs to older homes and, in some cases, historic homes, the neighborhoods forming a crescent around Downtown Charlotte are for you. These neighborhoods epitomize the character and soul of the city. And they include the full range of homes - from Charlotte's finest to modest bungalows & cottages now cherished for their prime location.

For historic homes, Dilworth is the neighborhood of choice. The original "streetcar suburb" is known for circa-1900 homes, renovated bungalows, churches and tree lined streets. Running through its center is East Boulevard, which has always been a magnet for dining & commerce. And now, at Dilworth´s northern edge is the popular restored area known as South End.... loaded with shops, restaurants and businesses devoted to design. Check out the current listings for Dilworth homes. And contact me for details.

Since its beginning in 1911, Myers Park has set the standard of excellence in Charlotte. It earned national acclaim as the "finest unified subdivision south of Baltimore" - using natural curves, gentle hills, and creeks to provide a setting of stately Georgian homes. Myers Park has never been more popular than it is today, as homes are being renovated, enlarged, and even replaced with grander homes or townhomes. Check out the current listings for Myers Park homes and Myers Park condos & townhomes.  And contact me for details.

If Myers Park is Charlotte´s gold standard, Eastover could be the platinum standard. Its stately homes and large lots have long attracted the leaders of Charlotte and it is the current home of the Mint Museum. Recently, a buyer paid $1.4m for a "tear down" home in order to build a grander home.

Elizabeth is an historic neighborhood where residents enjoy an urban lifestyle. Even with loads of development over the years, this architecturally diverse neighborhood still has much of its original character & charm. It is home to a large portion of the city´s medical center, as well as the main campus of Central Piedmont Community College, the state´s largest community college.

Two other "in" neighborhoods of this area are Chantilly and Plaza-Midwood. Chantilly is popular with young professionals who want to live in the shadows of Center City. It features beautiful narrow streets with charming cottages. Its neighbor, Plaza-Midwood, boasts a diverse population and a variety of home styles. It is a hip neighborhood where you will find funky shops, restaurants, antique shops, pawn shops or tattoo parlors.

Not everything is old in "Old Charlotte". Construction is underway on a $200 million, 10-acre, mixed-use development project to serve Center City and nearby Dilworth, Elizabeth, Eastover and Myers Park. And plans are underway in Elizabeth for a $300 million mixed-use project, including a 20 story residential tower. All this is in addition to the wave of new developments in South End along the light rail corridor.

If this sounds like the area for you, let me give you the tour.
